Installation Video Peice

To get inspiration for my video installation I went on two trips. One of the trips I went was to the Tate Modern. It was here that I saw a creative film installation. The installation was based at the back of the room on a wide screen. The were lights above which was used throughout the film as background and surrounding noise to give the audience the feeling of '3D sound'. The light was use for effects and was dramatically flashed, brightened and darkened throughout the piece. Whilst we were there we took the opportunity to look at some other pieces that would inspire us to make our own installation. The audience was able to view and hear the installation from multiple angels. The space could be similarly used but with multiple screens so that a full 360 view is available to the audience. By using multiple screens you could also do motion movements from one screen to another. The sound could be stored below all around and the light from above could reflects down as well as dim and brighten flash etc when needed to created effect. Another way the space could be used is by having a projector above project down onto one or two screens for the audience to view. This would be a great effect if the producer was trying to present something historical or show something changing over time. There would also be extra light from the project which could create effect depending on how the non-natural light is used.

Another one of the installations I saw whilst at the Tate was a series of tv's lined up in a dim room. The TV's had different videos on different screen. This meant the viewer had to watch multiple screen at the same time and could not just focus on one. I think this is very artistic and could be incorporated into a short based on public taboo's, racism, animal testing etc for effect. This will emphasis what the producer is trying to portray about the topic.

Another exhibition I saw at the Tate was a piece of artwork hanging mid air from the ceiling. I though this was quiet unique and detailed. Although this was artwork the piece could similarly be recreated with multiple screens stuck together hanging in a 360 direction to present to the audience. Another exhibition had a circle piece of plastic hanging and a projector reflecting a shape on the walls which went round the small space that the exhibition was spaced in.
