I think that I used my primary and secondary research to really find out what would be most appealing to the audience. My survey gave me an idea of what to make my installation about as well as the results from my conversations were I discussed ideas amongst other people. My secondary research really helped me to plan how I wanted to space my installation and how I wanted the audience to view it. I think that using a small room was beneficial to my installation because it really enhanced the sound and created a small echo. I think the dark room also matched theme and created a sinister feeling. I only chose to use two sound effects throughout my installation but I thought they were both effective. The heartbeat sound effects creates an eerie atmosphere. I increased the sound of the heartbeat to emphasize the feeling of tension when the footage of person sleeping came on the screen. The other sound effect used was the sound of a person laughing. I think this was unique instead of having the typical screaming sound effect and really gave the feeling that the character was doomed in their nightmare. I think the use of sound really made my installation interesting. I played the video on multiple screens so that the sounds was coming from all different directions, constantly having the audience on edge. I used multiple screen to show that the scene was repeating over and other again, it also gave the feeling that the person couldn't escape, it was all around them and they were trapped.

Feedback

From the feedback I received the audiences experienced the installation in the way I wanted them to and they was able to feel the effect of a nightmare.

I think to improve my installation I could have made it slightly longer. Some feedback I received said that I could have shown my installation on a big screen as well as multiple screens to add effect.
