The three ideas I have chosen to do as a memory are:
My first night out. I want to show why it was significant and the main things I remember about it.
The second idea I have chosen is my first day at secondary school. I could present how I felt, how it went and what was different from the other days at school.
The last idea I have chosen to do is a dream. I think A nightmare will be more visually pleasing then a normal dream. I want to portray how it made me feel through image as well as sound.

I have to decide to do my installation on a memory based on a memory of a nightmare. I would like to include footage of a child and a young woman tossing and turning.
I'm going to use some old footage that I will edit on the steam-beck into my installation. And then film the final edit and incorporate it into my installation.
I did a survey to see what people think about installations.
I would like my installation to be presented in a dark room (college classroom or office). If possible I would like to use two different projectors which will show the footage on two pillows.
I would like the the room to be dark with no lighting besides the light from the screens.

Survey Results
My survey results were really helpful because they enabled me to make up my about certain aspects of my installation. I had originally planned to use colour in my installation but my audience said that they would prefer to see the installation in black and white. They also said that they wanted to me to use both diegetic and non diegetic sound. I will use more non-diegetic that diegetic sound. My audience preferred my installation to be dark which I agree on because its suits the theme of my installation. I was not considering to put my installation on a loop but its is appealing to my audience. It will also give my audience the time time to re-watch the installation.
Artist Research
Pipillotti Rist
Was born in in Switzerland, June 1962
Rist focused on video installations because it allowed her to combine art, technology, music, movement al in one place. She uses her video installations to change and shine light on societies views and prejudices and cliche's. oHer installations are know for the proactive focuses such as gender, sexuality and the human anatomy. Her work has been exhibited at various museums around the world and her fist feature film Pepperminta was released in 2009.
Purple Granadilla, 2015

This installation is very creative and is mimetic of how someone might fell after drinking alcohol. The fire works create feelings of liveliness, excitement, joy etc. The colors are very bright and the installation is actually shown through the bottles. By adding normal bottles next to it, the installation stands out as well as fits in.
Homo Sapiens Sapiens, 2005
Austria 2015

Homo Sapiens Sapiens, 2005 Installation view, Komm Schatz, wir stellen die Medien um & fangen nochmals von vorne an’, Kunsthalle Krems, Krems. (Come on, we'll change the media & start over again). I quiet like the idea of the beds so that the audience can lay down while watching. This creates a extra feeling of relaxation whilst watching the installation. The installation itself has an intergalactic look to it. Multiple bright colours set out as some sort of pattern on the screen above the beds. The room looks very cosy, slightly narrow.

A la belle étoile (Under The Sky), Paris, 2007
The installation is massive and unlike other installations you are able to walk over it. Its is in-between building and very bold. The audience is able to see the installations in detail. Also the installation is outside and the re are no props or seats.
Garry Hill
Garry Hill does a range of arts including video installation which he is most recently know for. How was born in 1951and had already startled to dabble with metal sculpture by the time he was nine. He uses a range of different techniques to present an electronic language for his audience.

The Psychedelic Gedankenexperiment, 2010-2011
The layout of this installation is very different. Having that big object and then those little ones in the room will make it seem smaller than it actually is. The girl in the video installation looks like she is trapped. There are similar colors in the footage and in the atmosphere.

Still Life, 1999
12-channel video installation
Five video projectors, seven monitors, DVD player, video switcher, projection screens, and DVD disc
20 x 24 inches.
I love this installation because it looks very si-fi and geometric. It looks simple but detailed and its bright. This is something that will defiantly be appealing to the audience. The use of multiple screens makes it more interesting and the blue like works well with the black background.

Viewer, 1996
Dimensions variable
I like this installation because its different and interesting. The audience will think about what he is trying portray by having a line of men next to each other.

Remembering Paralinguay (with Paulina Wallenberg-Olsson), 2000
Single-channel video/sound installation
Video projector and mount, 1 DVD player & disk, 2 speakers, amplifier & equalizer
Running time: 3:26, looped
I like this installation because its looks very enclosed and personal. I like the use of black and white and the fact that Hill decide just to have one screen. I think this enables you too really focus on whats happing and see what he wanted to express. I like the contrast the two speaker add with out of date looking the black and white image.
Pre Production

Audience
The potential spaces that I could use would be a classroom, office or corridor.
I think that the classroom would be the best space to use because an office might be a bit to cramped and not allow enough space for the installation to be shown. I think that a corridor will be to broad and open, not representing what I am trying to portray correctly.
My target audience is 15 to 25. I have chosen this age because you will be able to remember your first nightmares around this age and how scary they were. My installation is targeted at both male and females of lower/middle class. When watching my installation I want to show the memory of the a nightmare and its feelings that they feel the tension. I want to mirror how overwhelming nightmares have by having multiple screens so that they will have more than one space to look at all the different scenes of the nightmare in one room. The installation room will be dark. This will make sure the only focus is on my installation as well as mirroring the darkness of a nightmare. I will want my installation to be in a small room This would make the audience feel slightly. I think this works well with the bad dream theme as you don't feel comfortable whilst having a bad dream. I want the installation to be in the centre of the room so that the audience can go round it it.
